The India launch of the Audi A8L facelift took place at the special event in Dubai. The A8 gets minor cosmetic upgrades, most evident in the optional Matrix LED headlights, and the cabin has been tweaked too.
Interestingly, the A8 will now be available in 100 exterior colours, 23 interior colours and 12 options for wood inserts. Seats embossed with personal logos will also be part of the customisation program.
Instead of customising the car option by option, Audi has created a pair of packages, choosing which works out cheaper than if you chose those options individually. The Luxury Pack, which includes the executive rear seat package, Matrix headlamps, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree surround view cameras, park assist and an air ioniser, costs Rs 15.56 lakh. The Elite Pack, meanwhile, wraps the entire cabin in leather, apart from the headliner (which is Alcantara), wood trim and controls. This pack will cost Rs 16.55 lakh.
The A8 will be available with two diesel engines - the 3.0 TDI and the 4.2 TDI - and one petrol motor, the 4.0 TFSI. All engines now develop slightly more power and are more efficient as well. Revised dampers round off the list of changes.
As before, the A8 will be imported into India as a completely built unit and hence, is on the pricier side.
Audi has priced the A8 3.0 V6 TDI at Rs 1.13 crore. The 4.2 V8 TDI version, meanwhile, will set you back by Rs 1.23 crore, and the 4.0 V8 TFSI will cost Rs 1.28 crore (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
