Best new car discounts this month

Discounts up to Rs 2 lakh can be availed on Renault's Captur.

    HATCHBACKS

    Volvo V40 Cross Country

Save up to Rs 5.5 lakh
Volvo’s smallest offering, the V40, comes with a range of personalisation options. It rivals the Mercedes A-class hatchback in our market. Like all Volvos, it scores high on safety and offers a pedestrian airbag as well. Styling-wise, the model has become a bit outdated and a replacement is due mostly next year. Discounts and benefits up to Rs 5.5 lakh are being offered at a few locations.

    Maruti Suzuki Ignis diesel

    Save up to Rs 75,000
The production of the Ignis diesel is currently on hold, and, in a bid to clear unsold stock, Nexa dealers are offering discounts and benefits to the tune of Rs 75,000 on the model. The Ignis comes with the tried- and-tested 1.3-litre diesel engine and decent quality interiors. It is good on space too, but its quirky styling doesn’t appeal to all. The top-spec trim comes with LED headlamps as well.

    Maruti Suzuki WagonR

    Save up to Rs 70,000
Maruti’s tall boy hatchback offers great interior space and shares its peppy 1.0-litre K-series petrol engine and five-speed manual and AMT with the Alto K10 and Celerio. The long-in-the-tooth model will soon see direct competition from Hyundai’s upcoming tall boy hatchback – the one that will revive the Santro name in India. Dealers are offering discounts of up to Rs 70,000 on the CNG variant, Rs 65,000 on the AMT-equipped model and Rs 60,000 on the standard petrol-manual variant.

    Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 AMT

    Save up to Rs 70,000
Maruti’s Alto K10 comes with a peppy 1.0-litre K-series engine mated to a five-speed AMT gearbox. This engine-gearbox combo, along with the car's small footprint, is a boon when driving on narrow roads and through heavy traffic. The model, however, is a bit dated and a bit tight on cabin space. Dealers are offering discounts and benefits of around Rs 70,000 at most locations.

    Maruti Suzuki Celerio, CelerioX

    Save up to Rs 60,000
Select Maruti Suzuki dealers are offering benefits and discounts up to Rs 60,000 on the Tata Tiago competitor, which is powered by the 68hp, 1.0-litre petrol engine and comes with manual and AMT options. Benefits worth Rs 50,000 can also be availed on the crossover-styled CelerioX.

    Maruti Suzuki Alto 800

    Save up to Rs 55,000
The smallest model in the Maruti range, the 48hp, 796cc Alto 800, is now available with an exchange bonus of up to Rs 30,000 and an additional discount of Rs 25,000. The hatchback rivals the likes of the 800cc versions of the Datsun Redigo and Renault Kwid.

    Maruti Suzuki Swift diesel

    Save up to Rs 15,000
The Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre diesel engine that is used across the range of Maruti Suzuki is a tried and tested motor. In the Swift hatchback, it makes 75hp and 190Nm of torque and is mated to either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT. Select dealerships are offering exchange benefits of up to Rs 15,000 on the Ford Figo rival.

    Hyundai i20

    Save up to Rs 45,000
Hyundai’s i20 hatchback takes on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the recently updated Honda Jazz. It comes with good-quality interiors and a decent features list. Available in both petrol and diesel, the i20 is being offered with benefits of up to Rs 45,000.

    SUVs & MPVs

    Mercedes-Benz GLC

Save up to Rs 5.5 lakh
The Mercedes GLC takes on the likes of the new Audi Q5, the Volvo XC60 and the Land Rover Discovery Sport. It comes with both petrol and diesel engine options, and a well-appointed cabin. Dealers are offering discounts of up to Rs 5.5 lakh at most locations.

    SsangYong Rexton

Save up to Rs 4.5 lakh
The SsangYong Rexton is Mahindra’s flagship SUV that rivals the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. The SUV has a smart-looking design and is actually well priced even before discounts. We recommend going for the model with the manual gearbox, as the automatic is on the sluggish side. A massive Rs 4.5 lakh discount makes the deal even sweeter. A replacement for the SUV is on the way.

    Volvo XC90

Save up to Rs 5.5 lakh
Volvo’s flagship SUV is a promising contender in the full-size luxury segment. The styling is neat, the cabin is made up of high-quality materials, and the large touchscreen infotainment system is a joy to use. The 2.0-litre engine, however, feels a bit sluggish at times. Discounts and benefits of up to Rs 5.5 lakh are available at select Volvo dealerships.

    2017 Renault Captur

Save up to Rs 2 lakh
The Captur is Renault's latest model but it’s been a slow-seller for the company. Dealers are offering a whopping discount of up to Rs 2 lakh on the models manufactured in 2017 in order to push sales.

    Mahindra XUV500 AT (pre-facelift)

Save up to Rs 1 lakh
The pre-facelift XUV500 can be had at a discount of up to Rs 1 lakh. The automatic gearbox is smooth-shifting and makes it easy to commute in slow-moving traffic. It comes with a spacious seven-seat cabin, as well a sunroof.

    Nissan Terrano

    Save up to Rs 80,000
The Terrano takes on the Renault Duster and the Hyundai Creta. The SUV, however, is now a bit long in tooth and its sales have been on the decline. The range includes a diesel-AMT variant, which is good for the city. The petrol-powered Terrano, on the other hand, lacks grunt, and it's the 1.5-litre diesel engine option we would recommend. Nissan is offering discounts of up to Rs 80,000 on the model.

    Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

    Save up to Rs 60,000
The all-new Ertiga is expected to launch in India in the coming months. In order to help clear existing stock of the current-gen MPV, dealerships are offering benefits of up to Rs 60,000 on the 1.3-litre diesel SHVS model, Rs 30,000 on the 1.4-litre petrol-engine Ertiga and up to Rs 25,000 on the CNG-powered variant.

    SEDANS

    Volvo S60

Save up to Rs 5.5 lakh
Volvo’s answer to the C-class and the 3-series, the S60, offers a long list of safety features and equipment, as well as a comfortable cabin. The next-gen S60 has already been unveiled internationally and will launch in India sometime next year. Dealers are offering discounts up to Rs 5.5 lakh on unsold stocks of the current-gen model.

    BMW 630d GT M Sport

Save up to Rs 2 lakh
The recently launched BMW 6-series GT diesel comes with a smooth 2.0-litre engine. The sedan offers a good driving experience. Add to that its luxurious interior, spacious cabin and long features list, and what you get is a great package. BMW dealers are offering discounts of around Rs 2 lakh on this model in order to attract more buyers.

    Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

Save up to Rs 1.3 lakh
The Ciaz is set to receive a mid-life update later this month. Dealers are clearing pre-facelift stock by offering discounts as high as Rs 1.3 lakh on select variants. The pre-facelift Ciaz comes with a 1.4-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel engine.

    Honda City

    Save up to Rs 65,000
Honda’s flagship sedan, the City, comes with a smooth 1.5-litre petrol and a gruff, yet efficient 1.5-litre diesel. Higher-spec variants also get a sunroof and LED lights. Dealerships are offering discounts of up to Rs 65,000 in order to push sales before Maruti launches the Ciaz later this month.

    Maruti Suzuki Dzire diesel

    Save up to Rs 20,000
Maruti Suzuki dealers are offering an exchange bonus up to Rs 20,000 on the Dzire diesel. The Honda Amaze rival shares the 75hp, 1.3-litre diesel, five-speed manual and five-speed AMT option with the Swift hatchback.
