The Land Rover Discovery Sport will be launched on September 2, 2015. It will serve as a replacement to the outgoing Freelander 2, and will be offered in four trim levels – S, SE, HSE and HSE LUXURY. Powering the Discovery Sport is a 2179cc diesel engine that comes in two states of tune – a TD4 version making 148bhp of power and 40.78 kgm of torque on the S, SE and HSE variants; and a more powerful 188bhp SD4 version available only on the top-spec trim.
Here’s a look at the list of features offered on each variant of the Discovery Sport.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport S will come with the following equipment:
· 17-inch alloy wheels with full size spare
· Cloth seats
· 6-speaker audio system
· 6 airbags
· Electrically adjustable and heated wing mirrors
The next trim, the Discovery Sport SE, in addition to the S comes with the following:
· Fixed panoramic roof
· Electrically adjustable and folding heated wing mirrors
· Automatic Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lamps
· Rain sensing wipers
· 17-inch 10 spoke alloy wheels with full sized spare
· Part-leather seats with second row 60:40 split, slide and recline feature
· Cruise control
· Front and rear parking sensors
· Interior mood lighting
· 10-speaker audio system
· 7-seater option (available with smaller spare wheel)
The Discovery Sport HSE, in addition to the SE gains the following equipment:
· Grained leather seats and steering wheel
· Dual zone climate control
· 10- speaker premium audio system.
The top-spec Discovery Sport HSE, comes with the following:
· Adaptive MagneRide suspension Contrast roof shade
· Adaptive Xenon headlamps
· Premium “Windsor” Leather seats and carpets
· 17-speaker Premium Meridian Surround sound audio
· Rear-seat entertainment package.
The standard gearbox on offer on all Discovery Sport trims is a 9-speed automatic. Apart from the above equipment, all trims come with Hill Descent Control (HDC), Roll Stability Control (RSC) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). The Discovery Sport, when launched, will compete with the likes of the BMW X3 and the Volvo XC60 along with the popular Audi Q5 SUVs.
