Update: Mahindra U301 to be called TUV300, launch in September 2015

We’ve gotten our hands on a spy photo of the upcoming Mahindra S101/102 that gives us the best look till date at the compact SUV's interiors.

The Mahindra compact SUV's cabin gets a single-binnacle instrument cluster, with two rectangular AC vents that sit on top of the centre console. There are multiple buttons that look like multimedia controls, with space for a small screen too. Under this are three HVAC switches positioned vertically.

Interestingly, the S101/102 gets a bench seat in the front, with the gear lever moved to the dashboard, much like in the Datsun Go. And the gearbox visible is an AMT unit.

Targeted at first-time car or SUV buyers, the Mahindra S101/102 is expected to get a cab-forward design where the A-pillar starts just aft of the front wheel arch, freeing up more interior room. The longish wheelbase stretches to almost the entire length of the car and its overall profile looks very hatchback-like.

Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming Mahindra compact SUV.
