Mahindra & Mahindra has launched new CNG variant of the Logan. The CNG kit will be offered on the 1.4 GLE and GLX trim levels and is currently available only in Mumbai and Delhi.
The Logan 1.4 GLE CNG variant will now cost Rs 6.04lakh, going up to Rs 6.33lakh for the GLX CNG variant – making it Rs 56,000 dearer than the petrol variants (prices on-road Mumbai). The company fitted CNG kits, manufactured by Landi Renzo Spa, will be supplied and fitted by Logicon. Landi Renzo also provides CNG kits to other car manufacturers like Tata Motors, Maruti, Mahindra & Mahindra and Renault Worldwide.
The 12kg cylinder CNG kit will come with a manufacturer warranty that will last for two-years or 50,000km. Mahindra is expecting a boost in the sales of its slow-selling saloon with the launch of the CNG variant, which the company claims will reduce fuel cost by 60 percent.
Commenting on the launch, Arun Malhotra, Senior VP, Automotive Sector, M&M, said “With issues such as climate change and carbon footprint taking centre stage globally, eco-friendly transportation has become the need of the hour and hence the launch of a company approved CNG kit.”
With the CNG fitted Logan, M&M claims the running cost would come down to Rs 1.62 - 2.26 per km, as against Rs 3.93 - 6.11 per km on petrol.
