Follow us onSkoda is working on a number of new SUV models that will be revealed next year. These include the forthcoming five- and seven-seater crossover models which will be on sale in international markets, early 2017.
The new Skoda SUV, which is unnamed and is not likely to be called the Snowman, has been finalised. It will be 4.7m long, featuring a clamshell bonnet, slim rectangular headlights, LED daytime running lights with indicators, and a sharp horizontal crease just before the window line.
According to sources, cabin space in the new model is on a par with the new Superb's, and the substantial boot can be extended further by moving either or both parts of the 60/40 split rear seat forward by about 17cm.
Skoda is also considering a more sporty five-door model, sitting on the same wheelbase but with around 12cm less overhang than on the regular model.
Features such as the rakish roofline and a more compromised rear packaging have likely been incorporated to lead Skoda into waiting for the Western European reaction to the regular SUV, before deciding whether traditional buyers are ready to accept a more style-focussed model. The Skoda coupé-SUV could also be produced in China, though the brand legacy here is less than in Europe.
Skoda's regular SUV will make its debut late next year. In 2018, it will be joined by the next-gen Yeti, which gets more subtle, conservative looks to fit in with the SUV family's looks.
