Three-month waiting for new Maruti Dzire

Maruti launched the third-gen Dzire in May 2017. The new car is available in eight variants – LXi, LDi, VXi, VDi, ZXi, ZDi, ZXi+ and ZDi+, with all but the LXi and LDi getting the option of an AMT gearbox.

Bookings for the compact sedan are on the rise, with dealers quoting a waiting period of around three months. The top-spec Z+ trim and the mid-spec V trims are the ones that have recorded the highest demand.

Notable features on the V trim include a rear centre armrest, rear AC vents and steering-mounted controls for the audio system. The top-spec Dzire Z+ gets LED projector headlamps with daytime running lamps, a Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system and a rear parking camera.

The five-speed manual gearbox continues to be the popular choice, but there is a steady rise in demand for the clutchless variants as well. The lesser-equipped L variants are available off the shelf at some locations.

The Dzire is available in six shades, of which Arctic White, Oxford Blue and Magma Grey are the most in demand. Engine options on the third-gen Dzire include a 1.2-litre K-series petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel.

The Dzire rivals the likes of the recently updated Hyundai Xcent, the Honda Amaze, the Ford Aspire and the Volkswagen Ameo.
