EXCLUSIVE
To revive fading interest in the Mahindra Xylo, the carmaker is about to launch an updated version soon. The Mahindra Xylo sold 13,961 units last fiscal year; down 44.3 percent compared to the previous year. The updated Xylo will feature slightly revised styling both outside and inside.
As part of the interior changes, we can expect a dual-tone black and beige dash, new seat fabrics and a slightly altered instrument cluster design. Also expected is the addition of a new 60:40 split folding third row and improved lumbar support in the second row seats. Outside, Mahindra is expected to add body graphics on the side and rear and a bit more chrome on the tail gate. According to our sources, the only change on the mechanical front would be a tweak to the suspension to improve the ride quality and probably improve stability as well. Mahindra had also upgraded the Xylo with mHawk engines last year which are expected to carry over.
Despite its spacious cabin, Xylo sales have been hampered by more car-like MPVs such as the Maruti Ertiga. Xylo sales have been limited to just about 1,000 units a month in the past few months and Mahindra will be looking to renew interest in the model with the updated Xylo. Expect the refreshed Mahindra Xylo to be priced marginally higher than the outgoing model. Mahindra is also testing an updated version of the Scorpio SUV.
