On an investor call, TVS CEO KN Radhakrishnan revealed that the company had sold 48,000 electric two-wheelers last quarter, up from 29,000 units sold in the quarter prior to that. And on that same call, he also revealed that the company is gearing up to launch a new electric two-wheeler in the next quarter.
When asked what specific brand this upcoming EV model would fall under, Radhakrishnan did not go into any specifics, instead just claiming that the upcoming EV product will “satisfy customer needs”.
While nothing concrete was revealed about the upcoming TVS EV, it could be that the company finally launches the range-topping iQube ST variant. The iQube ST has been long delayed now due to the changing EV landscape in India and the reduced FAME subsidy. When we attended the TVS MotoSoul festival last year, a company official hinted that the launch of the iQube ST will happen in 2024 and this investor call gives further credence to that claim.
Powering the iQube ST is a 4.56kWh battery that’s rated for a claimed 145km IDC range. The battery takes 4hr6min to reach 80 percent from flat when plugged into the 950W charger. The ST is also the only vraint of the iQube that supports fast charging capability at 1.5kW. The hub-mounted motor remains the same as the base iQube and the iQube S but the claimed top speed has increased slightly from 78kph to 82kph.
