The Dark Editions on Tata’s SUVs have been quite popular with customers, contributing 15-40 percent of sales on models such as the Nexon, Harrier and Safari. And while the facelifted Harrier and Safari already came with the Dark Edition variants at launch, the Nexon didn’t. Our dealer sources have now revealed that Tata Motors will introduce the Nexon Dark Edition around early March, and we have details of the trims it is going to be offered on.

The Dark Edition treatment will be meted out on the mid-spec trims and above on the Nexon – Creative, Creative+, Creative+ S, Fearless, Fearless S and Fearless+ S. The aforementioned trims are available with the option of either the 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo petrol mated to either a 6-speed manual, 6-AMT or a 6-DCT gearbox or the 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel mated to 6-speed MT and AMT.

The carmaker had a Dark Edition version of the Nexon EV at the recently concluded Bharat Mobility Expo, and if that’s anything to go by, the Nexon Dark will get a completely blacked-out exterior finish with black bumpers and grille, darkened roof rails, alloy wheels and even a darkened Tata logo. On the inside, expect a blacked-out dashboard, gloss black centre console, black leatherette upholstery and black roof liner.

The Nexon Dark will come well-equipped with features like LED daytime running lights, tail-lights, keyless go, automatic climate control, 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 360-degree camera, sunroof and more.

Such Dark Edition models have become fairly popular in this segment, with models like the Brezza, Kiger and Magnite getting black editions before, and the Sonet getting a unique matte grey finish in the X-Line variant.
