I travel nearly 90 km every day from my village Dungri in Gujarat to Talasari for work in an industrial factory. I want something that will be comfortable after a long day at work, will last me for a long time and won’t cause any issues given my long commute of four to five days a week. A good mileage figure is also important to me with today’s petrol prices. Please suggest a few options in the 100cc commuter bike segment.

Autocar India says: Until very recently, the Hero HF and Splendor bikes were your only options in the 100cc commuter segment and with both of those, you get a product that’s been tested and improved upon over decades. The Hero 100cc bikes cost between Rs 54,962 and Rs 75,840 (ex-showroom, Mumbai), depending on which model you choose out of the four available options. Honda has recently launched its new Shine 100 at Rs 64,900 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). While we are yet to ride the bike, considering the fact that it has the Honda badge on the tank, it is reasonable to say that it will be quite reliable. Bajaj has the Platina 100 as well, at Rs 67,475 (ex-showroom, Mumbai), and it too is a dependable and comfortable option. We suggest you wait for our review of the Shine 100, which should be out in the next month or two.
