The three-row Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian are also good alternatives to consider for a similar price.

I can’t figure out which SUV to go for in the Rs 35 lakh-45 lakh range. I’ve owned a Jeep Compass Diesel (M) previously and currently drive a Volkswagen Polo GT TSI. I am looking for a 5-seater diesel-automatic SUV that’s not too big for daily use. I want enjoyable driving and a punchy engine.

Autocar India says: The Rs 35 lakh-45 lakh price band has seen a few new SUV launches recently. Your best bet would be the new Hyundai Tucson, which gets added functionality in the form of ADAS, or the three-row Jeep Meridian. You could also consider the recently launched Citroen C5 Aircross facelift as ist one of the most comfortbale SUVs in this price range. Then there’s the Skoda Kodiaq, whose bookings have just reopened. However, do note that the Kodiaq and Meridian are 7-seaters, and the former does not get a diesel engine. You can also consider the diesel Mercedes-Benz GLA, which is more compact than the others, but you’ll have to stretch beyond your budget.
