I'm considering replacing my 2018 Hyundai Creta diesel automatic with the new Kia Seltos. Between the turbo-DCT and diesel-auto, I'm more inclined towards the latter, but with diesels being discouraged, is it a good decision to still buy a diesel?

Autocar India says: The Kia Seltos diesel automatic will be a good replacement for your existing car, not only because it is smooth and refined but also because it will be very fuel efficient too. In the Seltos' case, the turbo-petrol-DCT and diesel-auto cost the same, so you will benefit from the latter's lower running costs. Yes, the current scenario isn't diesel-friendly and there is uncertainty about the future of diesels, but you can still go ahead and get the diesel Seltos while it's on sale, and reap the benefits of its frugality over the next few years. Alternatively, you can also consider the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder or Maruti Grand Vitara hybrids; fuel costs will be lower still and refinement will be better than the diesel too.
