Fight of the automatics
I belong to Uttarakhand and own a Nexon AMT. After driving it for over one-and-half-years, I have faced many problems – most of them being manufacturing defects – and want to sell it before I face any other issue. Which automatic petrol car should I go for? And which gearbox should I select – iMT, DCT, CVT, Torque Converter and AMT – keeping fuel economy in mind?

What you need is a powerful compact SUV with a quick shifting gearbox to make overtaking in the hills easy. Your best choices are the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet, both of which come with a powerful 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a quick dual clutch gearbox (DCT). Between the South Koreans, however, we prefer the Sonet as it feels a bit more premium and has a nicer cabin than the Venue.
