I have a budget of Rs 20 lakh-30 lakh and drive around 1,500km monthly. I mostly drive in the city, and my priorities are good fuel economy, easy to maintain and good features. I test drove a Toyota Hyryder Strong Hybrid, but I am still confused if it’s worth paying Rs 23 lakh for a Maruti-Toyota made car or should I check other options.

Autocar India says: For your sort of driving, which is mainly in the city averaging up to 30km a day, the Hyryder hybrid makes a lot of sense. It will give you the best fuel efficiency and depending on your driving style and traffic conditions you could get close to 20kpl. Yes, at around Rs 23 lakh it is expensive and the fuel savings may not compensate for the purchase cost for a few years, but what you need to factor in is the smoothness, refinement and ease of driving you get in pure EV mode over short stretches. A diesel Creta or Seltos are cheaper and their top variants offer more equipment, so in that sense they are better value. But neither offer the silent and low emission traits of a strong hybrid.
