I have booked the Volkswagen Virtus highline 1.0 manual. I am an auto enthusiast, hence I've gone for manual, and budget concerns made me go for 1.0 instead of the 1.5. Could you please share some insights on the performance of the Virtus 1.0 manual?

We haven't driven the 1.0-litre manual yet, but we have extensively reviewed the Skoda Slavia 1.0 TSI which shares the same engine, transmission, suspension etc, and can tell you that the 1.0-litre TSI is a great little engine. Get past that initial delay and it performs better than all its 1.5 non-turbo rivals, in terms of acceleration, and, unless you've driven the 1.5 TSI, it will quench your thirst for performance for the most part. The 1.0 TSI rides and handles a bit more confidently than the 1.5 TSI too. If our experience is anything to go by, the Virtus will feel even sportier than the Slavia, so if you've got your heart set on this VW sedan, we'd say go for it!

For an in-depth perspective on other factors, you could read our Skoda Slavia road test which will give you an idea of how the Virtus is likely to be.
