Is EV battery replacement expensive?

    I am still deciding on whether or not to buy an EV as my next vehicle. Recently I read on the internet that a Tata Nexon EV's battery replacement would cost Rs 7 lakh, which is almost half the price of the car. Is a battery replacement that expensive?

    Autocar India says: It is true that batteries and ancillaries are imported, hence are among the costliest components in electric vehicles. Most EV manufacturers are constantly looking at ways to localise content, and you can expect battery replacement costs to significantly reduce in the coming years. Until that happens, most EV manufacturers provide an 8-year warranty on the battery and motor. So be rest assured that if anything goes wrong during this period, it will most likely be taken care of without being an unforeseen financial burden on the owner.
