The Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite CVTs are a good bet, as are lower variants of the Mahindra XUV 3XO.

XUV 3XO, Kiger or Magnite: Best automatic SUV on a Rs 13 lakh budget

Please suggest the best petrol automatic under Rs 13 lakh (on-road). This is my first car and will be used mainly as a family car.

Autocar India says: There are lots of options for your budget, but being your first car, you should get one that gives you good all-round visibility and has a responsive engine and gearbox. Also, being a family car, you will need a spacious cabin. Given your priorities, there are quite a few good compact SUVs to choose from. Our picks would be the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger, both of which have a spacious cabin, a high seating position and a peppy 1.0-litre turbo-petrol mated to a CVT.

The Mahindra 3XO is an even better choice as it’s better equipped, and has a far superior cabin and features list. It’s great to drive as well, thanks to very good ride and handling, and a strong engine mated to a 6-speed automatic. The only real downside with the 3XO is the small boot. Also, the feature-loaded automatic variants could be above your budget.
