Hyundai India begun the new year by officially revealing its Creta Electric. While nearly all details of the electric vehicle are out, ranging from battery specifications and features to exterior design, we will specifically focus on the lattermost.
Not much differs along the side apart from EV-specific alloy wheels and blacked-out C-pillar element (silver in the standard Creta). However, the darkened applique is exclusive to dual-tone variants. The skid plate looks refreshed as well, just like at the front. Subtle changes at the rear are integrated into the bumper, including a slimmer reflector pair, an angular skid plate and an additional reversing light, as against a single unit in its ICE sibling. Also, the right side of the boot gate will house the ‘electric’ badge instead of the variant name.
A total of 10 colours will be on offer, consisting of eight monotone and two dual-tone shades. These will include three matte paints, as earlier reported by us. For reference, the Creta on sale has seven colour options. With the EV, Hyundai has introduced a new Ocean Blue metallic paint with Black Roof. Others include Starry Night, Fiery Red and Atlas White with Black Roof.
Hyundai will debut the Creta Electric at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo (BMGE) on January 17. Direct rivals upon launch include the Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV, while upcoming competition includes the likes of Maruti e Vitara (or Vitara electric), Mahindra BE 6 (earlier BE 6e) and Toyota Urban Cruiser.
