Jeep recently introduced an update on the Meridian SUV, adding a new 5-seater base variant to the line-up along with some new features on the top-end trims. This has now brought down the Meridian’s starting price by over Rs 6 lakh, and it is now available in four trim levels: Longitude, Longitude Plus, Limited (O) and Overland. Here, we are taking a close look at what features are offered in each of the trims of the updated Meridian.
The new 5-seater configuration makes the Meridian a lot more accessible than before, but this seating layout is only available on the base Longitude trim; the three higher-spec trims are only available as 7-seaters.
Under the hood, the Meridian continues to be powered by a 170hp, 350Nm, 2.0-litre diesel engine. A 6-speed manual is standard and a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox can be opted for across the range. The top-spec Overland trim, however, misses out on a manual gearbox. The 4x4 system is also limited to the Overland trim, while all other trims are only 4x2.
A quick look at the Jeep Meridian’s web configurator gives us a split of the features available in each trim:
Price: Rs 24.99 lakh-28.49 lakh
Engine options: 2.0-litre diesel, MT/AT, 4x2
Price: Rs 27.50 lakh-30.49 lakh
Engine options: 2.0-litre diesel, MT/AT, 4x2

Engine options: 2.0-litre diesel, MT/AT, 4x2
Price: Rs 36.49 lakh-38.49 lakh

The Jeep Meridian continues to rival the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tiguan and the Citroen C5 Aircross. With this update, however, the Meridian also has quite some price overlap with the smaller Compass SUV.
