Mahindra XEV 9e price, variants and features explained

After a bit of a wait, Mahindra has finally announced the entire price list of the XEV 9e, and provided details on all four variants. The electric SUV is available in two battery pack options, and here’s an in-depth explanation of the powertrain, features, safety equipment and design elements in each variant of this rival to the upcoming Tata Harrier EV.

While we’ve known the Mahindra XEV 9e’s price range since early January – Rs 21.90 lakh to Rs 30.50 lakh – we now have prices for the mid-spec Pack Two and Pack Three Select variants, which cost Rs 24.90 lakh and Rs 27.90 lakh, respectively. One must note that none of the price tags include the charger’s cost or the installation charges. Mahindra will ask buyers to shell out an additional Rs 50,000 for a 7.2kW AC charger or Rs 75,000 for an 11.2kW AC charger, plus an installation fee.

The Pack One, Pack Two and Pack Three Select variants all use a 59kWh battery that powers a 231hp and 380Nm rear axle-mounted motor, which has an MIDC range of 542km on a single charge. These versions have a claimed charging time of 8.7 hours on a 7.2kW AC charger, 6 hours on an 11.2kW AC charger and 20 minutes on a 140kW DC fast charger.

The Mahindra XEV 9e Pack Three gets the larger 79kWh battery that powers a 286hp and 380Nm rear motor and is said to go 656km on one charge. Mahindra claims charging times of 11.7 hours (7.2kW AC charger), 8 hours (11.2kW AC charger), and 20 minutes (175kW DC fast charger).

The larger of Mahindra’s born-electric SUVs seems to offer quite a few premium features in its top-spec trim, with even the lower-spec versions coming across as well-equipped. Besides the upcoming Tata Harrier EV, the Mahindra XEV 9e’s price range also sees it take on the BYD Atto 3 (Rs 24.99 lakh-33.99 lakh).
