Mahindra recently launched its first EV SUV – the XUV400 – at a starting price of Rs 15.99 lakh and going up to Rs 18.99 lakh for the top model. Do note, however, that the prices are introductory and are applicable for the first 5,000 customers of each variant. Bookings for the XUV400 will open on January 26 and deliveries are set to commence from March.
The XUV400 comes in two trims – EC and EL. The EC is available with the smaller 34.5kWh battery pack with either a 3.3kW or 7.2kW charging option. The EL trim, on the other hand, gets the larger 39.5kWh battery pack with only a 7.2kW charging option. With the smaller battery, the XUV400 has a claimed range of 375km while the larger battery gives it a range of 456km. The power output for both variants, however, is the same – 150hp and 310Nm of torque.
Here is a look at the equipment list on the Mahindra XUV400.
Powertrain: 34.5kWh battery with 3.3/7.2kW charger (Rs 15.99 lakh-16.49 lakh)
Powertrain: 39.5 kWh battery with 7.2kW charger (Rs 18.99 lakh)
In addition to EC
The XUV400 competes with the Tata Nexon EV, which just saw a substantial price cut as a response to the XUV400’s launch. With the new pricing, the base Nexon EV’s price undercuts the XUV400’s by Rs 1.5 lakh but both EV SUVs top-out at exactly Rs 18.99 lakh. The XUV400 also competes with the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona Electric.
