Maruti Suzuki Invicto vs Toyota Innova Hycross: price, features comparison

Maruti Suzuki has launched its new flagship product, the Invicto. Priced between Rs 24.79 lakh and Rs 28.42 lakh, the new MPV is slightly cheaper than its platform sibling, the Toyota Innova Hycross. And as we had reported earlier, the Invicto misses out on a few features compared to the Toyota MPV. Let us take a look at how the two MPVs differ on paper.

Toyota offers the Innova Hycross in four trims, while the Invicto only gets two trims. Here’s how the prices of the two MPVs compare:

Both MPVs get two seating options and are powered by a strong-hybrid powertrain with a 2.0-litre petrol engine and an electric motor, which, combined, produce 186hp.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto Zeta+ vs Toyota Innova Hycross VX: features comparison

The entry-level trim Invicto Zeta+ is priced between Rs 24.79 lakh and Rs 24.84 lakh, and it is Rs 24,000 cheaper than the similarly equipped Innova Hycross VX trim. Let’s compare the two base trims with respect to their features list:

What has helped Maruti Suzuki to reduce the prices of the Invicto is offering fewer features compared to its equivalent Innova Hycross trim. The Invicto Zeta+ does not get parking sensors, while the Hycross VX gets front and rear parking sensors. Another parking aid missing on the Invicto is the 360-degree camera, as it only gets a reverse parking camera. 

The Invicto also misses out on the automatically adjusting inside rear view mirror (IRVM) as well as the welcome lights on the wing mirrors. What is also omitted on the new Maruti Suzuki MPV are the rear window defogger and the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). 

Interestingly, the Invicto gets six airbags as standard across the range, but the Innova Hycross only gets it on the VX (O), ZX and ZX (O) trims.

The Invicto Alpha+ trim is priced at Rs 28.42 lakh, while the Innova Hycross ZX is priced at Rs 29.35 lakh, making it Rs 92,000 more expensive. As such, the price difference between the top-spec trims is significantly larger than the equivalent lower-spec trims. Here’s how the features list on the two top-spec trims compares: 

The Invicto Alpha+ gets only six speakers, while the Hycross ZX gets a JBL-tuned nine-speaker system. Additionally, the Alpha+ only gets 17-inch wheels and the ZX gets 18-inch wheels, which could be another factor for the larger price difference between the top-spec trims. 

Another unique feature on the Innova Hycross ZX is the powered ottoman seats, which the Invicto misses out on. Even the windshield wipers on the Maruti miss out on the mist wiper function, and the armrests in the second row are non-adjustable. 

Moreover, Maruti Suzuki does not offer ADAS features on the Invicto – which is available on the Hycross' top-spec ZX (O) trim – and this is likely to have been done to keep the prices of the Invicto down.
