MG recently launched the Windsor in India at an introductory starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) with an additional charge of Rs 3.5 per kilometre driven for the battery pack. MG's latest offering does not have any direct rivals, but faces competition from electric SUVs such as Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400 and the newly launched Curvv EV. Here’s a detailed spec comparison of the four EVs to assess how they stack up against each other on paper.

The Windsor and Curvv EV are offered with 18-inch wheels, while the Nexon EV and XUV400 make do with 16-inch units. While the Windsor has the typical stance and shape of an MPV, it accommodates only five passengers across two rows, essentially resembling a larger hatchback. In contrast, the Nexon EV and XUV400 are conventional SUVs while the Curvv EV is a coupe-SUV.

The Mahindra XUV400's motor produces the highest torque of 310Nm. The XUV400 is also the quickest EV here, with a claimed 0-100kph sprint time of 8.3 seconds.

The Windsor offers a claimed range of 331km on a single charge with its 38kWh battery, which puts it ahead of only the Nexon EV with the smaller battery pack (275km) in this comparison. The Curvv EV's 55kWh battery pack offers a 502km range as per the latest MIDC test cycle revision - which is the highest here.

It should be noted that Mahindra is yet to reveal the XUV400's updated range as per the new MIDC test cycle, and we expect it to be lower than the 359-456km range as per the old cycle.

Tata Motors has also temporarily reduced the prices of the Nexon EV by up to Rs 3 lakh, depending on the variant. Until October 31, 2024, the Nexon EV is priced between Rs 12.49 lakh and Rs 16.29 lakh. After the festive period, the prices will go back to Rs 14.49 lakh-19.29 lakh.
