Toyota finally debuted the Innova Hycross in India on November 25, with it set to go on sale in January. Although it is the latest generation of the Innova, Toyota will continue to sell it alongside the Innova Crysta. We have curated a list of the top five features of the Hycross that are not available on the Crysta. Do note, these are in no particular order of ranking.
The Innova Hycross also gets ventilated front seats, a first for an Innova. This feature is also seen as an option on the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The Hycross made its global debut as the Innova Zenix earlier this week, however, the latter is not available with ventilated seats, even as an option.
The Hycross is also equipped with captain seats that get an ottoman in the second row, available on the higher variants with the strong hybrid powertrain. These seats can be electronically reclined and adjusted. This will ensure that the Hycross's rear seat is more comfortable than the Crysta, which has been a forte for the latter.
The Hycross will be the first product in India to feature Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS) system. It is Toyota’s Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS), which gets features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System that helps reduce crash risk, Lane Departure Alert and Lane Keeping Assist. The TSS also gets Automatic High Beam assist.
This level of ADAS technology is also available on the Mahindra XUV700, which, in addition to what the TSS 3.0 offers, also gets automatic emergency braking and traffic sign recognition.
The strong-hybrid variants of the Innova Hycross come with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, which is flanked by an analogue power meter on the left and analogue fuel and temperature gauges on the right. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder also gets a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, but it is accompanied by a digital power meter, and fuel and temperature gauges.
None of the previous generations of the Innova featured a sunroof of any kind. The Hycross will be the first one to do so, with a panoramic sunroof no less. The Hycross will be the fourth Toyota vehicle to feature a sunroof, and the second to get a panoramic sunroof. The only other Toyota products in India to get a sunroof are the Hyryder, Camry and Vellfire.
