Updates to the Alto 800 are more extensive than just cosmetic changes. Up front, the bumper is new with a larger air-dam, along with a grille that’s now finished in black. Inside, the dashboard seems like it has been lifted off the Alto K10. The top VXi variant gets an audio system with Bluetooth connectivity. The facelifted Alto 800 gets more safety tech including a driver airbag, ABS, driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder and rear parking sensors. The top variants get additional kit such as central locking and front power windows. In terms of safety, the top-spec VXi trim packs in a passenger airbag as well. Lower variants can be optioned with a front passenger airbag for a small premium. Maruti says that the hatchback now also complies with the upcoming crash and pedestrian safety regulations. The 796cc motor is carried over from before, but it is now BS-VI-compliant. However, fuel efficiency is rated at 22.05kpl as against the 24.7kpl ARAI figure before the update.
