The Zest is Tata's new compact sedan based on the modified X1 platform which also underpins the new Bolt hatchback.

The Tata Zest is 3,995mm long and this qualifies it as a small car, enabling the carmaker to pay less tax.

Tata Zest diesel will also get an automated manual transmission (AMT), dubbed F-tronic.

The smart-looking dashboard uses a beige-themed dual-tone colour scheme.

The Zest also gets a new, nicely integrated infotainment and connectivity system that has been developed in collaboration with Harman.

Tata’s indigenously-developed 1.2-litre Revotron turbo-petrol that will make its debut on the Bolt hatchback and Zest sedan.

New Tata Zest compact sedan to go on sale later in 2014 and will come with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol motor, a 1.3-litre diesel engine and an AMT 'box.
