Ford has revealed its new Ka+ sedan in Brazil. Based on that, Ford will introduce the Figo compact sedan for the Indian market. The Figo compact sedan was first unveiled in concept form at the Delhi auto expo earlier this year.
Ford is yet to step into the compact sedan segment, and the sub-four metre sedan will be placed right below the Fiesta sedan. Visually, the Ka+ sedan looks similar to the car that made it to the expo. A chopped boot version, keeping with the compact sedan category, is what the Indian market can expect.
Mechanically, the Figo compact sedan could draw power from Ford’s 1.2-litre petrol engine, its 1.5-litre ‘Sigma’ petrol or the 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbo-petrol, and also the 1.5-litre DV5 turbo-diesel engine. There is also a possibility that an 80bhp, 999cc petrol engine, likely to be derived from the 1.0-litre EcoBoost but without the turbo, could become part of the engine lineup for the Figo.
Ford might also looking at a hatchback based on the Ka. It will most likely be the next-gen Figo. Upon launch of the sub-four metre sedan, we may see Ford taking the Classic sedan off the market.
