The new Honda Jazz is set to launch in India on July 8. In the build-up to the launch, Honda has revealed the technical details of its upcoming premium hatchback.

The Indian version of the Jazz measures 3,955mm long, 1,694mm wide, 1,544mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,530mm. When compared to the outgoing car, the new Jazz gets an added 55mm on the length and 30mm on the wheelbase. This indicates a roomier interior, with the new Jazz offering more front leg room and rear knee room to its passengers. The new Jazz offers 354 litres of boot space. The fuel tank is located under the front seats and has a total capacity of 40 litres. The new Jazz has a ground clearance of a 165mm.

In terms of performance, the new Jazz borrows the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol motor from the Brio developing 88.8bhp at 6,000rpm and 11.21kgm of torque at 4,800rpm. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission or a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) gearbox. The new Jazz also gets the diesel engine from the Honda City. The 1.5-litre i-DTEC Earth Dreams engine develops 98.6bhp at 3,600rpm and 20.39kgm of torque at a low 1,750 rpm. This is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Stopping power is provided via disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. Honda claims that the petrol Jazz will deliver 18.7kpl in its manual form, while the CVT will offer a mileage of 19kpl. The diesel Jazz is expected to return 27.3kpl.

The Jazz will be offered in seven exterior colour options and two interior themes with the top- spec variant getting an all-black interior, while the lower-spec models get a beige theme. The top variant of the Jazz will come with 175/65 R15 alloy wheels, and the lower variants will get 175/70 R14 steel wheels. The spare wheel will be 175/70 R14 on all variants.

The new Honda Jazz is expected to be priced competitively this time around with over 90 percent of its parts expected to be sourced from local suppliers. Dealers have already started accepting bookings for the new Honda Jazz.
