After a series of images seen of test mules, fresh photographs of the Yamaha Fazer 250 have now appeared on the internet and in WhatsApp groups. Unlike the Fazer FI, which features a quarter fairing like the international Fazer 600 and 1000, the Fazer 250 has gone the way of the Suzuki Gixxer SF in offering a full and rather substantial front fairing.

The design adds considerable mass to the front with brawny shoulders that features new air intakes on either side of the headlight. The intakes, however, appear to be sealed and are likely to serve no functional purpose. The full LED headlamp gets a design similar to the naked FZ25 but gets a new LED running light below. The bike here was spotted without its mirrors but they are likely to be mounted on the top of the fairing at the same point as the number plate mounts.

The images here show the Fazer 250 in a new satin red and gold finish with some black plastic panels. It’s a fresh paint scheme for a Yamaha and quite the eye-catcher. Graphic work is kept to a minimum with some subtle badging and striping along the side and the top of the fairing. The rest of the design remains the same as the FZ25, with a similar instrument cluster, wheels, tyres, brakes and exhaust design. Expect the 249cc air/oil cooled single-cylinder engine to continue in the same 20.9hp and 20Nm state of tune. Performance will likely be a bit lower than the FZ25 due to the additional weight of the fairing. It is unlikely Yamaha will offer ABS as well.

The Fazer 250 will be positioned at a premium over the FZ25, taking its price over the non-ABS Pulsar RS 200. Reports suggest a launch is likely by October 2017.
