Honda has revised prices for its CBR1000RR and CBR1000RR SP. The price for the standard CBR1000RR has gone down from Rs 16.79 lakh to Rs 14.78 lakh – a drop of Rs 2.01 lakh. Meanwhile, the price for the SP has gone down from Rs 21.22 lakh to Rs 18.68 lakh – a drop of Rs 2.54 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi). This price-drop is thanks to the recently announced 25 percent drop in CBU custom duties.

Back in 2017, the Japanese bike maker launched its all-new generation of the CBR1000RR series, which marked 25 years of existence for this particular line of motorcycles. At its heart is a 999cc in-line-four engine that puts out 191.6hp at 13,000rpm (10hp more than before) and 114Nm of torque at 11,000rpm. Honda claimed it revised 90 percent of the motorcycle to obtain a weight reduction of 16kg, bringing the bike’s kerb weight down to 195kg. This reduction in weight – coupled with the aforementioned increase in power – increased the bike’s power-to-weight ratio by 14 percent.

The Fireblade is loaded with electronics, including a gyroscopic ABS system, ride-by-wire, 9-level traction control, selectable engine braking, an electronic steering damper and a power selector. The Fireblade SP additionally gets semi-active Ohlins Electronic Control (S-EC) suspension at the front and rear (43mm NIX30 inverted forks up front and a TTX36 monoshock round the back), a quickshifter and downshift assist. Both bikes get full-colour TFT screens in their cockpits.

The ex-showroom, Mumbai prices for the CBR1000RR and CBR1000RR SP are Rs 15.19 lakh and Rs 18.97 lakh. At these revised prices, the Firebade is the most affordable litre-class supersport in India. Other bike makers who have announced revised prices are Suzuki, Yamaha, BMW, Ducati, Indian and Harley-Davidson. Kawasaki and Aprilia, however, are yet to announce updated prices for their respective models.
