UPDATE: 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa sold out in India

The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa has been launched in India at Rs 16.4 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

  • Changes include lighter pistons, and new connecting rods
  • The 2021 Hayabusa’s kerb weight has decreased by 2kg
  • It now makes 190hp which is 7hp lower than before

2021 Suzuki Hayabusa: engine update

The Suzuki Hayabusa still uses the 1,340cc, four-cylinder engine capacity, but it has been tweaked for 2021. The changes include lighter pistons, new connecting rods and fuel injectors. That said, both power and torque figures have gone down. It now makes 190hp as compared to the previous-gen’s 197hp, while the peak torque of 150Nm is also slightly lower than before.

Despite this, Suzuki claims that the torque delivery has been revised to be stronger and that this results in the ‘quickest Hayabusa ever’.

2021 Suzuki Hayabusa: chassis

For 2021, the Suzuki Hayabusa continues to use the twin-spar aluminium frame. The bike also has an identical wheelbase (1,480mm) as the older model. The kerb weight, however, has gone down by 2kg to 264kg, thanks to a lighter exhaust system. As for suspension, the new Busa uses Showa units with tweaked internals. The biggest, and most needed change comes in the braking department, with the Hayabusa now running Brembo’s acclaimed Stylema calipers up front. Suzuki has also chosen to equip it with the impressive Bridgestone Battlax S22 tyres.

2021 Suzuki Hayabusa: electronics

Suzuki has also decided to update the Busa’s electronics quite heavily. With a new six-axis IMU, the 2021 model gets 10 levels of traction control, 10 levels of anti-wheelie control, three levels of engine brake control, three power modes, launch control, cruise control, cornering ABS and hill hold control.

For 2021, the Suzuki also sports a LED headlight and, while much of the large dashboard remains analogue, there is a new TFT display in the centre for the rider to navigate the multiple menus.
