TVS has launched the 2021 Apache RR 310 at Rs 2,59,990 (ex-showroom).

  • New exhaust system with more cornering clearance
  • Updates to instrument cluster
  • Optional adjustable suspension and racier ergonomics

2021 Apache RR 310: what’s new

As part of what is now a yearly tradition, TVS has updated its Apache RR 310 sport bike. The 2021 Apache RR 310 is priced at Rs 2.59 lakh, making it a mere Rs 5,000 more expensive than before. For this premium, it gets a few standard upgrades, as well as a pair of optional extra kits. For starters, the exhaust system has been redesigned so that the muffler is now placed higher up, offering more cornering clearance. TVS has also used the opportunity to offer a racier exhaust note, which is an area where the flagship Apache has fallen short in the past. So, kudos!

The other standard change is to the TFT instrument cluster, which now gets added functionality in the form of digital document storage, a day trip meter and an over-speed indicator. In addition to these standard updates, TVS is now offering two optional extra kits, which bring far more comprehensive changes.

2021 Apache RR 310: Dynamic kit

First up is the Dynamic kit, which offers adjustable suspension at both front and rear! This means that the upside-down fork and monoshock can both be adjusted for preload as well as damping (compression and rebound damping can be independently adjusted for the fork, while only rebound damping can be adjusted for the shock). This is truly remarkable, since nothing even remotely close to this price range offers this degree of suspension adjustability. Also included in this kit is a final-drive chain with an anti-rust brass coating.

2021 Apache RR 310: Race kit

Next is the Race kit, which offers sportier ergonomics thanks to revised handlebars and footpegs. The clip-on handlebars offered in this kit are pointed 8 degrees downward and pulled 5 degrees inward to the longitudinal centerline. This results in a more leaned-forward seating posture that should give you better wind protection behind the windscreen but is sure to be more uncomfortable for everyday use as well.

The footpegs feature a knurled finish for improved grip, and are placed 30mm higher up, which results in an extra 4.5 degrees of cornering clearance. The standard pegs are placed slightly low and tend to drag quite easily at higher lean angles, so it’s nice to see TVS offering customers the option to address this issue.

2021 Apache RR 310: Kit pricing

The Dynamic kit is priced at Rs 12,000 while the Race kit costs Rs 5,000, making them quite reasonable considering what they pack in, since it would probably cost as much or more if you were to make the same modifications in the aftermarket. The new Race Replica graphics scheme seen in the picture above is priced at Rs 4,500, while the red alloy wheels are an additional Rs 1,500.

As for the bike itself, the new Rs 2.60 lakh price tag allows the RR to undercut its nearest competitor, the KTM RC 390, by nearly Rs 20,000, and the KTM is only set to become more expensive once its new generation launches in a few days’ time.

Individual bits from each of the two packs can be bought independently, and the two packs can even be combined together. All of this personalization will be made possible by TVS’ new ‘Built to Order’ program that allows buyers to customise their bikes online at the time of booking itself. The really good news is that most of the new parts can be retrofitted to older Apache RR 310s, and TVS will even sell a reflash of the TFT cluster to earlier owners, giving them the new functionality.
