Yamaha has unveiled the 2022 Aerox maxi-sports scooter for the Indonesian market. The 2021 iteration of the Aerox is already on sale in our country and we believe that the 2022 version should be on sale soon as well.
For the 2022 model year, Aerox gets six new colours. In Indonesia, the Aerox is available in two variants – Connected and ABS. The connected variant is available in four new colours: Matte Black Cyan, Dark Grey Yellow, Black with Red highlights, and Red with contrasting Black bodywork, while the ABS variant is available with two new colours: Matte Black Gold and Matte White Gold.
The Indian version gets ABS as standard to comply with our safety norms and the feature list continues to include an LED headlight, an LED taillight and a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity. It certainly isn't the most feature-rich, but it does indicate phone battery status as well as display call, message and email alerts. The Aerox also gets access to the Y-Connect app. There are no other changes apart from these refreshed colourways.
The Aerox's motor is derived from the R15's 155cc liquid-cooled, VVA-equipped engine and produces 14.79hp at 8,000rpm and 13.9Nm at 6,500rpm. The Aerox comes equipped with a CVT, which, coupled with the R15s engine, gives it a 0-60kph time of 5.28 seconds – a whopping 3 seconds quicker than the Aprilia SR160.
Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the back, while the braking set-up comprises a 230mm disc at the front and a 130mm drum brake at the back. It gets 14-inch wheels shod with 110/80 in the front and 140/70 tyres at the back.
Do you think these visual updates will further boost sales for the already popular Aerox? Let us know in the comments below.
