Yamaha has updated its flagship litre-class naked motorcycle, the MT-10, for 2022. The bike features a design update, mechanical changes and more.
Makes 5.5hp more than before
Features a 4.2 inch TFT screen
Sharper front-end styling
The Japanese two-wheeler company updated the MT-07 and MT-09 to meet the Euro 5 (BS6) emission norms late last year. The flagship model in the line-up, the MT-10 has been late to receive a similar update, but it finally has.
2022 Yamaha MT-10: styling
Yamaha has updated the motorcycle’s styling to give it a more aggressive appearance. It has done this with the help of a lighting set-up that looks like the eyes of a robot, with eyebrow-like LED DRLs. There are also other minor styling tweaks.
2022 Yamaha MT-10: engine
While the bike continues to be powered by a cross-plane, four-cylinder engine, it now uses lightweight aluminium forged pistons, offset con rods and direct-plated cylinders. The bike also has a new intake and titanium exhaust that’s said to have helped in meeting the stricter emission norms. The 2022 MT-10 makes 165.9hp and 112Nm, which is an increase of 5.5hp and 1Nm over the bike it replaces.
2022 Yamaha MT-10: electronics
The 2022 MT-10 also features an R1-derived six-axis IMU that delivers traction control, slide control, engine braking management, and wheelie control. Other changes include a more refined throttle-by-wire system and four riding modes. These modes can now be toggled via updated switchgear and a 4.2 inch TFT display. The MT-10 also gets cruise control and a bi-directional quickshifter.
2022 Yamaha MT-10: availability
The 2022 Yamaha MT-10 is expected to go on sale overseas in 2022, with a price announcement sometime later this year. At present, there is no word on India availability.
