In addition to revealing the next generation FZ V3.0 models, Yamaha has also launched the ABS variants of the FZ25 and Fazer 25. Both bikes come equipped with dual-channel ABS. The naked FZ25 comes with a price tag of Rs 1.33 lakh and the Fazer 25 will set you back Rs 1.43 lakh. That’s a hike of a little over Rs 13,000 compared to the non-ABS variants that cost Rs 1.19 and Rs 1.29 lakh respectively (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
The FZ25 and Fazer 25 receive no other significant updates apart from the addition of ABS. Both continue to be powered by a 249cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 20.9hp at 8000rpm and 20Nm of torque at 6000rpm, which comes paired to a five-speed gearbox.
With the launch of the ABS variants of these bikes and the mandatory ABS deadline right around the corner, the non-ABS variants will likely be discontinued soon. Subtracting the superbikes, the FZ25 and Fazer 25 are Yamaha’s ‘large’ displacement offerings in the country and the addition of ABS makes them much safer.
While we recently saw the Japanese manufacturer testing the upcoming India-spec MT-15, there is no official confirmation yet on when it will be launched.
