Ampere Vehicles had revealed two new e-scooter concepts at Auto Expo 2023, and now we have spotted one of them testing ahead of its India launch. The scooter in these images is the NXG, which is one of two products based on the same platform. This one will be aimed at private buyers and is intended to be positioned as the  premium offering in Ampere’s line-up, above the new Primus

While the scooter has no discernible badging, its styling is a clear giveaway that this is the production-spec Ampere NXG e-scooter that was showcased early last year.

The intended premiumness in the Ampere NXG can be seen through  elements such as footpegs that sit flush with the bodywork, LED lighting all-around and it will be the first Ampere with a front disc brake.

The images show a large digital display that spans nearly the entire handlebar area, however, whether this is an LCD or TFT unit remains to be seen. The NXG appears to be a reasonably spacious scooter, although we’ll have to reserve the final verdict on that until we ride the scooter. The single-piece seat appears to curve slightly upwards towards the pillion’s space and there is also a large grab handle for the passenger.

At the Auto Expo, Ampere claimed that the NXG would have a claimed range of 120km on a single charge, although what the exact capacity is and whether that's the certified number or a real-world claim remains unclear. It also remains to be seen whether the NXG will employ a lithium-ion battery or a lithium ferrous phosphate (LFP) battery like the Primus utilises. The latter is a chemistry that offers safer thermal characteristics but lower energy density than its more widespread NMC counterpart.

Considering that the Primus currently retails at Rs 1,46,355 (ex-showroom, Delhi), expect the NXG to cost more considering the equipment on offer.
