With the dates for Auto Expo 2020 approaching fast, the list of participants is becoming clearer; and it's shaping up to be a bit of a mixed bag. Earlier, we brought you names of carmakers who will be part of India’s biggest motor show, and those who have chosen to skip it altogether.
The industry is going through a pronounced slowdown, and several manufacturers have opted out of the motor show as the cost of participation is high; and most are currently realigning their product plans and redirecting their resources for a smooth transition into the BS6 era.
It’s a similar story for two-wheeler companies. As a result, a number of them have decided to give the 2020 edition a miss. As of now, we can confirm that Suzuki Motorcycle India and Piaggio (with Aprilia and Vespa) are manufacturers who will be present at the Expo; but Hero MotoCorp became the first to announce its decision to not participate in the 2020 Auto Expo a few days ago.
It may come as a surprise to some, but TVS and Jawa Motorcycles will not be present at Auto Expo 2020 either. As always, Bajaj Auto and Royal Enfield won’t be a part of the show, and biggies such as Yamaha Motor India and Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India are also likely to skip the 2020 Auto Expo.
Among big-bike manufacturers, Triumph Motorcycles will skip the Expo for the second consecutive time, along with Kawasaki, Ducati, Harley-Davidson and Motoroyale; the latter of which is the official retailer for five brands – MV Agusta, FB Mondial, SWM, Norton and Hyosung. With the BMW Group choosing to skip the Expo, BMW Motorrad will be absent, too, and even Ather Energy has chosen to give the motor show a miss.
With such a lengthy list of manufacturers who won’t be participating in Auto Expo 2020, it remains to be seen if any new names jump into the fray to occupy the sprawling stalls at the India Expo Mart, in Noida, which is where the 2020 Auto Expo will be held from February 7-12.
