With Republic Day celebrations going in full swing, Bajaj has teased a new V range of motorcycles which heralds the arrival of a new commuter brand that the company will launch on February 1, 2016. The new commuter brand will co-exist along with the popular Discovery range of bikes.

The teaser reveals a silhouette of a sporty motorcycle, indicating the direction in which the brand intends to take the commuter space. The bikes are set to receive a muscular design, which includes a sculpted tank and a sporty rear. There is a hint of the CS400 in the design of the motorcycle.

However, the bike in question is aimed at a more consevative audience as is evident from the details. It is equipped with an air-cooled engine and packs a kick starter as well. Suspension duties will be handled by telescopic forks up front, and twin shocks at the rear. The range also promises to have a convenient low saddle height, which will make it easy for shorter riders. Safety too has not been compromised, as the range will be equipped with disc brakes.

Interestingly the ‘V’ range is claimed to be made from the metal of the INS Vikrant and will carry a special logo to commemorate India’s first aircraft carrier that was scrapped.

Meanwhile, the much awaited CS400 naked sports bike is slated for launch later this year. The bike will be powered by the 375cc, single-cylinder engine derived from the KTM Duke 390.
