Back in January 2020, a leaked slide of what looked like a Qianjiang (Benelli's parent company) presentation revealed that the company was working on multiple new motorcycles. The list featured a new TRK800 adventure bike, an Imperiale 530 and a 600RR. New spy shots from China have now revealed what appears to be the Chinese-spec (Qianjiang-branded) 600RR.
What is it?
These new images reveal that the 600RR is based on Benelli's 600cc platform. However, the floating rear section and underbelly exhaust suggest that it's based on the SRK 600 and not the updated TNT 600i that made its debut at EICMA. The SRK 600, which is essentially a heavily updated version of the TNT 600i, also made an appearance in production-ready form less than a week ago.
Most of its mechanicals – including the frame, suspension and brakes – look identical to those on the SRK 600 and updated TNT 600i. The fully faired bike also appears to be running the same TFT colour instrumentation. The biggest difference comes in the form a fairing and the 600RR also appears to have a sharp, Kawasaki-like front end, while the tail reminds of Yamaha’s latest sport bikes. The images reveal that the Benelli 600RR should have a fairly comfortable riding position and that neither the clip-ons, nor the foot pegs appear to be too aggressively set.
What about the 600RR's specifications?
As for the engine, in its old form, the TNT 600i made 86.2hp and 54.6Nm of torque, while the specifications for the 2020 TNT 600i claim 81.6hp and 51Nm of torque. For now, the specifications of the 600RR are unknown. It'll be interesting to see how Benelli managed the weight of the 600RR, since the 234kg naked it's based on was a real heavyweight to begin with.
Will Benelli launch the 600RR in India?
While it is certain that the bike maker will bring a BS6 version of its naked four-cylinder middleweight to India, we believe it’s quite likely that Benelli will do the same with this version. We don't see a reason why the company wouldn't bring this bike to India as it's naked counterpart. The TNT 600i has always been a popular bike for Benelli, and India’s love for faired machines is no secret.
