BMW Motorrad India has teased the arrival of two new motorcycles: the off-road-focused F 900 GS and the ADV tourer F 900 GSA.

  1. New 895cc motor makes 105hp, 93Nm
  2. F 900 GSA geared toward road use, GS more off-road biased
  3. Prices likely to go up from existing bikes upon launch

BMW F 900 GS, F 900 GSA launch details

BMW’s middleweight twin-cylinder engine has been bored out to displace 895cc, up from the current 853cc motor. The new engine produces 105hp and 93Nm, an increase of 10hp and 1Nm. It will power both the F 900 GS and F 900 GSA, which are set to arrive in India.

Let’s start with the F 900 GS, as it is an all-new machine. It looks very different from other middleweight GS models. It features the same headlight as the G 310 GS and is a much slimmer, off-road-oriented machine. While it has the same 21/17-inch (front/rear) wheel sizes and suspension travel as the GSA, it weighs 219kg with its 14.5-litre tank full.

The F 900 GSA is meant to serve as the road-biased middleweight ADV from BMW and this will be a more familiar motorcycle visually. Another area of difference is the presence of electronic suspension compared to the manually adjustable units on the standard GS. At 246kg, the F 900 GSA weighs a substantial 27kg more than the 900 GS.

Both bikes come equipped with a full suite of electronic rider aids, such as riding modes, power modes, traction control, ABS, and a bidirectional quick-shifter. All these features are controlled via the standard 6.5-inch TFT display, which is common across most large-capacity BMW models.

Currently, the BMW F 850 GS and F 850 GSA are priced at Rs 12.95 lakh and Rs 13.75 lakh, respectively. Expect these new 900 models to command a premium over these prices upon launch. Currently, pre-bookings are open for these two models and we expect them to be launched soon.

All prices ex-showroom, India
