Indian market gets two variants – standard and Scrambler
Engine has been updated for 2021
Both bikes are imported as CBUs
For 2021, the 1,170cc boxer engine has been updated to meet the Euro 5 (BS6) emission norms. To achieve this, the company has made a few upgrades to the air- and oil-cooled engine, and it now gets a new cylinder head with a new turbulence system that swirls the mixture to ensure cleaner combustion.
The result of meeting new emission norms is a 1hp drop in peak power, with the engine producing 109hp at 7,250rpm and 116Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. BMW adds that the motor has been tuned to offer a strong midrange, especially between 4,000rpm and 6,000rpm. Besides the new internals, the engine also gets new cylinder head covers that look aesthetically attractive.
While the styling of the bikes remains the same, both now get a newly designed circular instrument cluster with an analogue speedometer display and integrated indicator lights. The headlight is also an LED this time around. Everything else remains the same.
Internationally, the R nineT is also available in two more variants – Pure and Urban G/S.
