Hero has launched the BS6 iteration of the Super Splendor in two variants – a drum brake variant at Rs 67,300 and a disc brake variant at Rs 70,800. Until now, the bike was available only in a drum brake variant that was priced at Rs 60,700 (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).
The BS6 Super Splendor is powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that makes 10.73hp at 7,500rpm and 10.6Nm of torque at 6,000rpm, which is a considerable step up from the older bike’s 9hp at 7,000rpm and 10.35Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. The engine also now comes mated to a new 5-speed gearbox, unlike the older bike that used a 4-speed unit.
Hero also tells us that the engine now sits within an all-new chassis and that the bike also offers increased suspension travel – 15mm more at the front and 7.5mm more at the rear. The seat is longer by 45mm and ground clearance is also up by 30mm, taking it to an impressive 180mm.
Braking hardware consists of a 240mm front disc and a 130mm rear drum brake, and the bike comes equipped with CBS. The BS6 Super Splendor is available in a new Metallic Nexus Blue colour, in addition to the Glaze Black, Heavy Grey, and Candy Blazing Red schemes that were already on sale.
