  • Mojo 300 BS6 spotted testing for the first time

  • Visually identical to the BS4 model

  • Goes up against the Bajaj Dominar 400 and Royal Enfield Himalayan

The Mahindra Mojo 300 in BS6 form has been spotted testing on the outskirts of Pune. It may be a little late to the BS6 party but Mahindra Two Wheelers seems to be working towards a launch in the coming months. Our sources tell us that the BS6 Mojo 300 was supposed to go on sale in July 2020. However, the COVID-19 situation has caused delays.

A short recap here. The Mahindra Mojo 300 ABS was introduced in 2019 after the Mojo XT 300 and UT 300 were discontinued. The test motorcycle you see in the pictures is the BS6 version of the same motorcycle.

The obvious difference between the two is the new, BS6-compliant engine and the addition of a secondary catalytic converter. While the exact specifications of the BS6 engine are to be revealed, for reference, the BS4 Mojo's 294.72cc, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled single produced 26.29hp at 7,500rpm and 28Nm at 5,500rpm.

Visually, the test motorcycle looks identical to the BS4 Mojo 300. It gets the same body panels, radiator shroud, the polarising twin-headlamps, instrument cluster, wheels and Bybre brakes. The right side up telescopic fork and monoshock are the same units as well and were taken from the Mojo UT 300 to reduce costs. Speaking of which, the BS4 Mojo 300 was launched in July 2019 at Rs 1.88 lakh and we expect the price of the BS6 version to be slightly higher.

As far as competition goes, the Mahindra Mojo 300 BS6 has its work cut out for it. It is up against the much more powerful, and better equipped, Bajaj Dominar 400 (Rs 1.94 lakh)

and the Royal Enfield Himalayan (Rs 1.89 lakh). And while that is the competition in terms of price, it is the Bajaj Dominar 250 (Rs 1.60 lakh) that competes with the Mahindra Mojo 300, in terms of engine power.
