TVS has launched the 2020 Apache RTR 160 4V and Apache RTR 200 4V in India. Both bikes are BS6-compliant and also get a new LED headlight. The Apache RTR 160 4V (drum) has been launched at Rs 99,950, while the RTR 160 4V (disc) has been priced at Rs 1.03 lakh. The BS6 Apache RTR 200 4V, meanwhile, now costs Rs 1.24 lakh.
When compared to the older models, the BS6 Apache RTR 160 4V (disc) costs around Rs 3,000 more than the older fuel-injected model. The RTR 160 4V (drum) costs around Rs 8,000 more than the older drum-brake-equipped variant, but that one used a carburettor and not fuel-injection – which is why the increase in cost is justified. As for the RTR 200 4V, its cost has now gone up by close to Rs 10,000.
TVS has offset the price hike by offering new features. The LED headlight, for instance, gives the bike an updated look. The company has also added what sounds like a low-speed riding mode that it calls GTT (Glide Through Traffic). It’s said to be tuned “for low-speed urban riding and enables an extremely smooth and controlled ride.” Other new features include a ‘feather touch’ start and redesigned mirrors.
When it comes to the specifications of the new BS6 motors, the RTR 200 4V will now produce 20.50hp and 16.80Nm of torque. Power output remains the same as the older model, but torque is now down from the previous unit's 18.10Nm. The RTR 160 4V in BS6 guise makes a claimed 16.02hp and 14.12Nm of torque, down from 16.80hp and 14.80Nm of torque from the BS4 model.
