Hero MotoCorp recently launched its very first electric scooter, in the form of the Vida V1. This electric two-wheeler is offered in two variants: Pro and Plus, which differ in range, performance and price. Here’s a detailed breakdown of the differences.

Hero Vida V1 Pro vs Plus: differences

The most significant difference between the two versions is in the battery pack, with the Plus sporting a smaller 3.44kWh battery pack compared to the 3.94kWh unit that the Pro comes equipped with. As a result, there is a difference in claimed range as well, with Hero quoting 143km range for the Plus and 165km range for the Pro. Bear in mind, these are IDC test figures, and real-world numbers are likely to be slightly lower.

Due to different battery capacities, charging times also differ between the two variants. The Plus will require 5 hours and 15 minutes for a 0 to 80 percent top-up using the home charger, while the Pro will need to be plugged in for 5 hours and 55 minutes to achieve the same.

Both variants sport the same 6kW motor (3.9kW continuous output), but there is a difference in performance. Despite carrying the larger battery pack, it’s the Pro that’s slightly faster, completing the dash to 40kph in 3.2 seconds compared to the 3.4 seconds that the Plus requires. This suggests that Hero has programmed the motor controller differently on the two variants.

The final difference between the Plus and the Pro is when it comes to price. The former will set you back by Rs 1.45 lakh, while the latter costs Rs 1.59 lakh. Both these prices are ex-showroom, after FAME-II subsidies, but without any state-level subsidies.

Hero Vida V1 Pro vs Plus: similarities

The two variants look pretty much identical as most of the differences are only under the skin. As mentioned earlier, they sport the same 6kW motor which gives them both the same 80kph claimed top speed. They both also come with many of the same features. Both the Pro and the Plus get three riding modes, keyless operation, LED lighting and cruise control, as well as connected features that include turn-by-turn navigation, geo-fencing and bike tracking.

Both variants also feature the same charging port and have fast-charging capabilities of 1.2km/min. Interestingly, the charging port is the same design as that of the Ather 450X. This isn’t surprising since Hero MotoCorp is a large investor in the Bengaluru-based start-up, and Ather’s connector design has been open-sourced. What this means is that the Vida electric scooters will have access to Ather’s public fast-charging network.

In terms of rivals, the Vida V1 will go up against the other established premium e-scooters on the market, which include the Ather 450X, the TVS iQube, the Bajaj Chetak and the Ola S1 Pro. We recently put all the Vida’s rivals to the test in a thorough comparison review, and you can check it out here.
