A recent type approval document shows that the Hero XPulse 200 4V will receive a Rally Kit soon, like its 2-valve counterpart. More interestingly, the document also shows that the bike will get a new variant altogether, called the Rally Edition.
Likely to feature longer-travel suspension
More off-road biased tyres also a possibility
Will command a premium over the standard bike
The Hero XPulse 200 4V is a noticeably improved motorcycle over its 2-valve counterpart, but one weapon that's been missing from its armoury is a Rally Kit. The 2-valve version gets one, complete with longer-travel suspension and more off-road focused tyres and ergonomics, among other things. Now, Hero seems to be making amends with the 4V, and then some.
As per the type approval document, the XPulse 200 4V will receive a Rally Kit, as well as a new variant altogether, called the Rally Edition. There are a number of differences in dimensions between the standard bike, the Rally Kit-equipped version and the Rally Edition, which hint at the sort of changes that Hero could make.
The Rally Kit-equipped bike is taller, slightly longer and gets a slightly larger wheelbase than the standard bike. It's also 1kg heavier. The Rally Kit on the 4V should be quite similar to what you see on the 2V, with more suspension travel and adjustability, more off-road friendly tyres and revised ergonomics, courtesy of a new seat and handlebar risers.
The Rally Edition seems to be an even more hardcore iteration of the bike – it's even taller and longer than the Rally Kit bike, and gets a longer wheelbase and an extra 1kg of weight too. This points to the fact that it could feature even more ground clearance and suspension travel.
The Rally Kit for the 2-valve bike costs Rs 38,000 and you can expect a similar number for the 4V's Rally Kit as well. The Rally Edition will most likely sit even higher on the price charts. For reference, the standard bike is priced at Rs 1.32 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
