Last year, Hero MotoCorp revealed a naked bike concept called the Xtunt 2.5R. Now, a patent image has leaked of a new Hero street naked that we believe will be the production version of the Xtunt concept.
- Likely to debut new 250cc engine
- Chassis will be based on Karizma
At EICMA last year, we reported that the Xtunt 2.5R concept would debut a new 250cc engine and it looks like that motor will be in this new street bike. Going by Hero’s current family names, this bike will probably end up being an Xtreme 250R, although that will be confirmed soon.
We expect Hero to unveil this motorcycle at EICMA 2024, alongside a new generation Xpulse as well as an updated Karizma. Going by what’s visible in the patent image, the production-spec Hero Xtunt 2.5R will use a chassis that is similar to the one used on the Karizma. The bike appears to have muscular proportions with a chunky fuel tank, a sharply-raked tail with a split seat set-up and sporty shrouds around the radiator.
Not much is known about the engine at the moment, but it will be liquid-cooled, like the 210cc unit in the Karizma that produces 25.5hp and 20.4Nm. How different it will be remains to be seen, but the external cases do look different, which suggests that this is more than just a bored/stroked version of existing 210. Like the Karizma, it will have a 6-speed gearbox.
While Hero will probably be showcasing the production-spec bike at EICMA, an India launch may still be some time away. After all, the company also showed the Xoom 125R and Xoom 160 scooters at EICMA last year and both are yet to go on sale.
