Honda is set to launch the new Honda Activa Smart on January 23. The Activa Smart will be another variant of the Activa, and as per the Delhi RTO documents that we’ve accessed, there are some interesting changes to this variant of India’s bestselling scooter.
Firstly, the Honda Activa Smart weighs 1kg less than other variants of the Activa, namely the standard and the DLX. How they’ve managed to do so is a mystery until we get more information. Secondly, the scooter’s power figures, across all variants, has risen, albeit by a miniscule amount, from 7.79hp to 7.84hp.
So, what is the Smart bit in the name? That is likely a new anti-theft system that Honda is expected to introduce in the Activa Smart. This may be a cost effective version of the Honda Ignition Security System or H.I.S.S. that we have seen in Honda’s big bikes. There is also a likelihood of this new anti-theft system making its way to other Honda bikes like the Shine.
Back in 2022, Honda had filed a patent for the H-Smart two-wheeler anti-theft device. The Activa Smart could hence be the recipient of Honda's new anti-theft system.
