The popular Honda Africa Twin model line-up has been updated for 2024 and with these updates, the Adventure Sports model (the one that’s sold in India) becomes more touring-friendly with the presence of a 19-inch front wheel.

  1. Both models get revised front fairing design
  2. Torque goes up from 103Nm to 112Nm
  3. Standard model gets electronic suspension as an option

Common updates to both for this year

Noteworthy mechanical changes on the 2024 bikes are the fine-tuning of the DCT gearbox, which the company claims makes it smoother in the first two gears. The engine’s compression ratio has also been bumped up slightly, which has raised the peak torque figure to 112Nm delivered at 5,500 rpm (up from 103Nm at 6,250rpm). Along with that, the front fairing has seen a few small changes and both bikes now get a new 5-step adjustable front windscreen.

Africa Twin Adventure Sports: More road-friendly now

The 19-inch front wheel will be a welcome addition for the majority of the riding public as bikes like these are mainly used to munch miles. The front tyre now measures 110/80-19, as opposed to the slimmer 90/90-21 hoop earlier.

Seat height for the European-spec Africa Twin is adjustable between 835-855mm and this is due to 15mm thicker foam used in the seat. Bear in mind that the Indian-spec Africa Twin had a lowered suspension which brought seat height down to 810-830mm, and it remains to be seen if the 2024 model continues that trend.

The outgoing Africa Twin Adventure Sports is priced between Rs 16.02 lakh-17.56 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and when the 2024 model does get here, we expect prices to go up.

Africa Twin base gets electronic suspension, tubeless tyres

The standard variant can now be had with the same Showa semi-active suspension as found in the Adventure Sports, as an optional extra. What will come as welcome news is the presence of tubeless spoked rims on the base variant, which will make it much easier to fix punctures.

The standard model hasn't been sold here since the Africa Twin grew to a 1,100cc model and it remains to be seen if this bike makes its way to India.
